1. Introduction

At Dinner Decided, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, the lawful bases we rely on, and the choices and rights you have.

Dinner Decided is currently operated on a pre-launch basis. If you have any questions about how your information is handled, please email hello@getdinnerdecided.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information we need to give you a great experience. This may include:

• Account information: your email address and the authentication information needed to sign you in and keep your account secure.
• Your recipe data: recipes you add or import into your private account, including ingredients, steps, notes and any source link you provide.
• Favourites: the recipes you save.
• Planner data: the meals and days in your weekly meal plan.
• Shopping List data: items generated from your plan and items you add yourself.
• Ingredients you enter: the ingredients you tell us you have when looking for meal ideas.
• Preferences: settings such as your measurement units and display choices.
• App activity: when you use Dinner Decided while signed in, we record your account identifier and the date (UTC) you used the app — no more than one entry per day. We do not record what you tap, search or view.
• Recipe-import material and metadata: files and content you upload or share for a recipe import — such as PDFs, photos or screenshots, audio recordings, pasted text or forwarded email content — together with basic information about the import, such as when it happened and whether it succeeded.
• Limited technical information: technical and error information generated when something goes wrong, so we can diagnose and fix problems.

Dinner Decided’s own built-in recipes and their artwork are shared app content, not your personal data.

3. How We Use Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account and sign you in.
• Suggest recipes based on the ingredients and preferences you give us.
• Save your recipes, favourites, meal plans and shopping lists.
• Carry out recipe imports and extractions that you ask for.
• Remember your preferences, such as measurement units.
• Keep your account secure and protect the service against misuse.
• Diagnose faults and keep the app working reliably.
• Understand how many people use Dinner Decided each day, week and month, and how many return, so we can improve the app. Only combined totals are shown to our team; we do not review individual activity.
• Respond to your questions or support requests.

We do not sell your personal information. Dinner Decided does not run advertising and does not carry out behavioural marketing or tracking.

4. Our Lawful Bases for Using Your Information

Under data-protection law we need a lawful basis for using your personal information. In plain terms:

• To provide the service you asked for (performance of our agreement with you): creating and running your account and sign-in, saving and importing recipes, favourites, meal planning, your Shopping List, your preferences, and running the recipe imports and extractions you request.
• Our legitimate interests: keeping the service and your account secure, preventing and investigating misuse, maintaining reliability, and carrying out proportionate technical and error diagnostics so we can fix problems.
• Legitimate interests (app activity): we have a legitimate interest in knowing whether Dinner Decided is being used and whether people come back. We collect only an account identifier and a date, keep it for 90 days, and show only combined totals to our team, so the impact on you is minimal. You can object to this activity tracking at any time by emailing hello@getdinnerdecided.com. When we accept your objection, we will stop recording your activity and delete your existing daily activity records. We will handle all objections in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
• Legal obligations: where we have to keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

We do not rely on legitimate interests for advertising or behavioural marketing, because we do not do either. Where consent is ever required for something specific, we will ask for it separately.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Dinner Decided uses browser storage for essential functionality — such as keeping you signed in — and to remember preferences like your measurement units. Some limited feature state and counters are kept only on your own device and are not sent to us.

App activity is recorded on our servers; we do not place cookies or store analytics information on your device for this purpose.

The published Dinner Decided website also uses basic traffic analytics supplied by the Lovable hosting platform. This collects information such as page path and URL, page views, a random session identifier, referrer/source, timestamp, browser user agent, browser locale/language, and approximate country and device/browser/OS information derived from your browser. This helps us understand basic site usage and improve Dinner Decided. This traffic analytics is not intentionally linked by Dinner Decided to your account email or Supabase user ID.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking, or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your information is stored securely using trusted service providers. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including access rules that keep each account’s data separate.

While we work hard to keep your data safe, no online service can guarantee complete security. Please use a strong password and keep your account details private.

7. Service Providers

We rely on a small number of service providers to run Dinner Decided. They act on our behalf and only receive the information needed to provide their service. They are used for:

• Database, authentication and file storage — Supabase (including Supabase Auth).
• Hosting, platform infrastructure and basic traffic analytics for the published site — the Lovable platform.
• Recipe extraction, transcription and related AI processing — the Lovable AI Gateway, using Google Gemini for recipe extraction and OpenAI for audio transcription.
• Sending account emails, such as sign-in and password reset messages.
• Technical and error diagnostics.

When you import a recipe from a link you provide, we also request that page or post from the website concerned so we can read the recipe content.

We do not use advertising networks. The analytics measurement on the published site is supplied at the hosting/platform level rather than by a separate analytics SDK installed by Dinner Decided.

8. International Processing

Our database, authentication and file storage infrastructure is hosted in Ireland. However, some of our service providers — in particular those used for hosting infrastructure and AI recipe extraction or transcription — may process information outside Ireland or the EEA.

Where that happens, we rely on the data-protection safeguards applicable to those providers where required by law. If you would like more information about this, please contact us at hello@getdinnerdecided.com.

9. How Long We Keep Information

Information linked to your account is generally kept for as long as your account remains active, or until you delete the individual information yourself or delete your account.

Daily app activity records are automatically deleted after 90 days.

After deletion, limited information may remain for a short period where that is necessary — for example in provider backups or system logs, or where retention is needed for security, prevention of fraud and misuse, or to meet a legal obligation. Provider backups and logs are not erased instantly, but they are held for limited periods and then cycled out.

10. Your Rights

Where applicable under data-protection law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate information corrected.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Request that we restrict how we use your information.
• Receive a copy of certain information in a portable format.
• Object to certain processing, including processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests.

Your rights of access, deletion and objection also apply to your app activity records.

Not every right applies in every situation. You can also manage a lot yourself in the app: update your account details, delete recipes, meal plans and shopping list items, and permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account.

Deleting your account removes your account information, the recipes you imported or added, favourites, meal plans, shopping lists, preferences, the files you uploaded for recipe imports, and your app activity and usage records. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Dinner Decided’s own built-in recipes are shared content and are not affected.

11. Complaints

We would always like the chance to put things right first, so please contact us at hello@getdinnerdecided.com if you have a concern.

If you are in Ireland or the EU, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data-protection supervisory authority. In Ireland this is the Data Protection Commission.

12. Automated Decision-Making

Dinner Decided does not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you. Recipe matching and recipe extraction simply help organise and suggest cooking ideas.

13. Children

Dinner Decided is not intended for children under 16. You should be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, please contact us at hello@getdinnerdecided.com and we will remove it.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Dinner Decided grows. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
